NYC - How To Spend A Short Break Exploring The City That Never Sleeps

Whether you've been before or it's your first trip to The Big Apple, there's something for everyone and there's never enough time to do it all. With more flights connecting the UK with the East Coast than ever before, short citybreaks across the pond are becoming increasingly popular. Here are some recommendations on how you can spend a few days exploring New York City.

Not-So-Little Piece Of Nature

The set for countless movies including Home Alone 2, Central Park is an iconic landmark. Many opt for a horse & carriage ride; we prefer to stretch our legs along part of the 6-mile loop! Strolling through tree-covered paths with the sun glistening through, wandering off into the open fields, maybe even taking a perch on one of the aptly placed rocks with a view of The Plaza. If you have time, visit the Central Park Zoo for some wildlife encounters... and we're not just talking about the guests!

Crossing The Bridge

A big tick on the Tourist Card is to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge, but nobody tells you what to do when you reach the other side. Go & visit Dumbo. No, not the elephant; trendy Dumbo's cobblestone streets and converted Brooklyn warehouse buildings are the backdrop for independent boutiques, high-end restaurants and trendy cafes! You'll be spoiled by historic Jane’s Carousel as well as picturesque views of the Manhattan skyline.

Walk The Line

The High Line is a 1.5-mile-long elevated linear park, greenway & rail trail created on a former New York Central Railroad spur on the west side of Manhattan. We recommend hitting up Chelsea Market for a light-bite (or a feast) first before wandering North towards Hudson Yards, one of the most innovative architectural sights. Want an aerial view? Then you need to end this walk at Edge, the new open-air observation deck where you can look 100 stories down through the thrilling glass floor, lean out over the city on angled glass walls & sip champagne in the sky.

Dinner & A Show

There are far too many eateries to recommend on this page, but if NYC is famous for 2 things, it's pizza & Broadway! A visit to John's Pizzeria is an absolute must for a slice of heaven; no gimmicks, no glitz or glamour - just delicious Italian-American food made from the heart from 1929. Afterwards, catch one of New York's many amazing shows. You can afford to be spontaneous here; head to TKTS at the Times Square steps and grab some last-minute tickets for whatever takes your fancy.
